History of the IFCN

“How to create a better understanding of milk production world-wide?”, this was the initial research question Torsten Hemme set out during his PhD at the Thünen Institute in Germany.

With a dairy farming background and international experiences he developed the TIPI-CAL Model as a standard for dairy farm economics to compare and understand the variety of dairy systems in different countries. Today it is the backbone of the IFCN Farm Analysis.
Throughout the years more and more researchers, company supporters and other stakeholders have joined and contributed to the network seeing the value of dairy knowledge, data and inspiration it offers.
